Moshi

Gateway to Kilimanjaro and Heart of Chagga Culture
Moshi

Moshi

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, Moshi is a vibrant town that blends rich culture, stunning landscapes, and a welcoming spirit. As the capital of Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro region and a key hub in the northern safari circuit, Moshi is both a practical gateway and a destination worth exploring in its own right.

A Town Rooted in Heritage.

Moshi is home to the Wachagga people, who began settling the area between the 11th and 15th centuries. Renowned for their ingenuity, the Wachagga developed sophisticated irrigation systems and terrace farming techniques that are still admired today. Their legacy lives on in the region’s lush, cultivated hills and the deep cultural pride of Moshi’s residents.
The town also reflects its colonial past through charming historic buildings, many of which have been thoughtfully restored into boutique lodges and guesthouses. Combined with a strong emphasis on education and progressive values, Moshi exudes a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
Flavors of the Land.
Moshi is Tanzania’s coffee capital. The surrounding slopes of Kilimanjaro are dotted with sprawling plantations that produce some of the finest Arabica beans in East Africa. Coffee and bananas flourish on the higher elevations, while lower areas support vast sugar plantations, maize and bean farms, and one of the country’s largest sugar factories. A visit here offers not only breathtaking views but a taste of the land itself.

Nature, Adventure, and Celebration

Moshi is more than a scenic stop—it’s alive with experiences. Each year, it hosts the renowned Kilimanjaro Marathon, drawing runners from around the globe. The area is also blessed with cascading waterfalls, crystalline natural springs, and pockets of lush tropical forest waiting to be explored.
Whether you're here to conquer Africa’s highest peak, wander tranquil trails on its lower slopes, or simply soak in the warm hospitality of this charming town, Moshi offers a refreshing and authentic Tanzanian experience

At Asante Homes and Safaris, we craft more than safaris — we curate soul-stirring journeys across East Africa’s most iconic wild landscapes. Blending the spirit of adventure with a touch of refined luxury and rooted authenticity, we don’t just plan trips — we design dreams that echo long after the footsteps fade.
